Making a Will is an essential responsibility that none of us should ignore.

Apart from dealing with our estate, a Will can also be used for the appointment of guardians for your infant children and for giving what may be quite specific directions to your guardians, executors and trustees.

A Will need not be complicated but it should be prepared by a solicitor.

The cost is modest.  For most Wills we charge £100 plus VAT.

Once the Will is prepared we will be happy to store it for you free of charge indefinitely.

We will prepare the Will for you with a minimum of fuss and usually within 5 days of receiving instructions.

Those instructions can be given by email but we prefer to deal by telephone.  Before telephoning, think through your intentions and wishes.

Have the information ready, including full names and addresses for executors, guardians and beneficiaries.If you do not have the information immediately available this does not matter as we always email you a draft for approval and those details can be easily filled in at that time.

If you wish to make specific gifts of money, jewellery or other items be clear about your wishes and we will get it right! (First time)

Wills and circumstances change;

A good Will can last you for life.  There are however specific times when you may wish to or need to revise your Will.  These are a few examples;

• Following divorce, bereavement or remarriage
• On a substantial change in financial circumstances
• Following birth of children or if you simply change your mind

Probate and Administration of Estates

We will assist you in obtaining Probate or Letters of Administration in the event of intestacy. 

 
We encourage the executors to carryout as much of the administrative work as possible to minimise the cost of administration and any administration work we do is charged at our normal hourly rates.  For our rates please refer to the web page The Firm.
